Secrets
There was a SBW committee meeting on September 18th 2023 - two days after the Webmaster resigned from the committee. This was the second part of the combined August / September committee meeting. Under "Business arising from Correspondence" was - "Kynie Evison gave a brief outline to the recent posts on the SBW website referred to in the first two items of correspondence and the discussions held with John Kubale, John Souter, Kynie Evison and Brett Davis. The posts ... were taken down" - there was nothing about David Campbell's complaint about the Webmaster's emails about the safety procedures.
The "first two items of correspondence" quoted above are shown as the Lawless email of 8th September, and a David Campbell email of 17th September with the subject of "SBW Moving Forward". The David Campbell email shown as Correspondence In was sent six days after the meeting at Brett's home on 11th September and one day after he resigned from the committee. It was not the original David Campbell email of 10th September with the subject of "REQUEST FOR ACTION TO ADDRESS DAMAGING BEHAVIOURS IN SBW" that had reared its ugly head at the meeting on 11th September.
The following two committee meetings in October 2023 and January 2024 also had no mention of the original David Campbell email. John Kubale kept the original David Campbell email a SECRET from the committee.
On February 4th 2024 Brett sent an email to the SBW committee which can be found here - Confidentiality (Secrecy) - which asked questions about the confidentiality requested and granted for the second David Campbell email, and stated that it conflicted with the SBW constitution which allows no secrecy.
That email finished with Brett saying "I'm a great believer in truth, openness and honesty. I don't believe that any committee business should be kept SECRET from club members, but I'm happy for you to try to change my mind."
John Kubale replied on behalf of the committee less than a day later from his personal email address saying "I do no propose to answer it" - so now the SBW committee was not even answering legitimate questions about the legality of their actions!
The Webmaster's reply to that email which was sent on 6th February 2024 can be found here - Missing document?. The original David Campbell complaint email - that John Kubale had kept SECRET from the committee - was attached.
This prompted an extraordinary response from the SBW committee. A month after the Webmaster sent them the David Campbell complaint email that President John Kubale should have distributed to them about five months earlier, the Shoalhaven Bushwalkers committee held a SECRET meeting, produced correspondence marked "Private and Confidential" (see the link below) that was sent to the Webmaster but kept SECRET from the club, and they initially recorded no minutes for the meeting as well!
Here is the link to the "Private and Confidential" letter - the "Private and Confidential" letter.
Brett responded by exercising his rights as a Shoalhaven Bushwalkers member to complain about every violation of the Shoalhaven Bushwalkers constitution by committee members during the previous year. Those complaints were sent to the Shoalhaven Bushwalkers committee but their details were kept SECRET from club members and never recorded as "Correspondence In".
They can be read by clicking this link to the COMPLAINTS page ...
