Reaction
The Webmaster has stated that he did not expect any reaction to two of the three new web pages. The first was a factual summary of the club's legal obligations as an incorporated association, and the second was a factual summary of the duties of the President as shown in the club's constitution and job descriptions.
The "Term of the President" page might be considered a bit more controversial as it pointed out the untruths uttered by the Vice President - which have now been forever enshrined in the club's minutes - and the actions of the President and Vice President in championing limited Presidential terms, a return to an outdated concept that good people had tolerated for years before working long and hard to come up with a much better system that benefited EVERYONE.
The Webmaster has also stated that everything mentioned on the "Term of the President" page was true as well - so why would people complain?
As it turned out, complaints were made - by Lyndal and Graeme Lawless, and by David Campbell. Those complaints can be seen by following these links -
The Lyndal and Graeme Lawless complaint
The David Campbell complaint
In an email to a former club member in 2025 when describing the two complaints, Brett wrote "while I did not agree with all the points made in the Lyndal and Graeme Lawless complaint about two of the three new web pages, I did not have any major problems with it. It's their right to complain and they went about it in the right way. It was then up to the committee to action their complaint."
The David Campbell complaint, however, not only responded to two of the three web pages, but also included objections to the emails about the proposed safety procedures which had been sent over three months earlier! Those emails which were mentioned (and linked to) earlier in this History can be viewed on this page - Proposed New Safety Procedures emails.
David's complaint accuses the Webmaster of "disrespectful and hurtful personal attacks" but gives no examples to back up his claim - because there are none. The emails he objects to were sent to the committee and not to David. Nobody on the committee, including Julienne McKay - the supposed victim of the attacks - complained about those emails at the time, or in the three (plus) months since they had been sent. David also admits that he didn't read all of them, and he relied on his partner telling him the truth about their contents ...
The Webmaster could have justifiably accused David Campbell of ""disrespectful and hurtful personal attacks" - and unlike David, the Webmaster would actually have been able to provide the evidence as David's complaint is riddled with proof!
A few days after the website was updated, newly elected President John Kubale arranged a meeting with the Webmaster at his home. When pushed to provide a reason for the meeting, John explained that "the meeting is to address some of your complaints while considering others."
John also arranged for John Souter (the SBW Liaison Officer) and Kynie Evison (the SBW Vice President) to attend. The Webmaster believed that the meeting would be a discussion about the many bad decisions that the Shoalhaven Bushwalkers committee had recently made. These bad decisions were detailed in an email he sent to John, which can be found here - Decisions.
That meeting - which turned out to be yet another violation of the SBW constitution - was the beginning of the end for the Webmaster's twenty five years on the SBW committee.
