Subject: Why are Walker Responsibilities different?

Date sent: March 30, 2025

Hi SBW committee,

I was being conscientious this morning by checking the Walker Responsibilities on the Activity & Member Information page on the club website and I also downloaded the Walker Responsibilities document from the Safety Information page. I couldn't help noticing that they are not the same. While the general gist of each responsibility is similar, the wording of every responsibility is different with each of the paraphrasing the other.

Wouldn't it be better for members, more consistent, and less prone to error and misinterpretation if both sets of Walker Responsibilities were exactly the same - especially given that we are talking about one of the club's main safety documents?

Regards,
Brett

Why the differences?

This page shows one of the 35 suggestions to improve the club and its procedures sent by the Shoalhaven Bushwalkers webmaster to the SBW committee in 2025. The Shoalhaven Bushwalkers webmaster would have his membership cancelled for sending in these suggestions, although the real reason was probably because of two disputes he raised with the Shoalhaven Bushwalkers committee which they seemingly did not want to deal with. The cancellation of the webmaster's membership was arguably illegal under NSW law and could lead to the club being taken to court.
